He got to the ballpark early

He got up. He got to the park at 8 o'clock. Nobody said that the bus would be leaving at 10 o'clock. He figured he could interview Bochy then. Bochy showed up around 10 o'clock. Jerry said, "Hi, Bruce." Bruce said, "Hi." Nobody tells the announcers anything.

He walked to the hotel where his senior prom was held

He went for a walk to the Fairmont Hotel where his senior prom was held. First he walked down Market street and went by the Palace Hotel where he went to some dances. Then Polk Street to Market. From Market to Embarcadero. Embarcadero to Bay. Bay to Mason. Mason over the top. And up to the Fairmont. He wanted to to see the Fairmont just to "make sure it was still there". His date to the senior prom was Gert Gerdhart(?). He took Gert because all the girls he really liked had already been "picked off" by other guys. Gert was his best friend.

He also went to Walgreens to try to buy razor blades. He was told that they kept the razors up by the counter, but the only ones available were the "use 'em and throw 'em away type". He mentioned how hard it is to find simple things now.

He went to the bookstore

He went to the bookstore, the name of which he couldn't remember. He decided he should take notes throughout the day since Ted is always asking him about his day. He didn't buy anything and when reminded that the bookstore isn't a library, he replied that it was probably good for business for him to be standing around there anyway.

He got to the park early

He had trouble remembering what he did today as it was "three or four hours ago".

He got to the ballpark at 2 o'clock though he forgets why he got to the park so early. He remembered that he had to get tickets straightened out ("that sort of thing"). He even arrived before Dave Marcus.

He got a haircut

He got a haircut. Then he went and did that "magazine thing" (Padres Magazine). He interviewed everybody in sight and he interviewed Bochy twice. He forgot his belt because he wore a mock turtle neck to the park without a belt. When he changed he realized that he forgot his belt. Xavier Nady offered him a belt, and Jerry thought that was nice. Jesse Garcia offered him a belt too, but Nady's was more classy. Garcia had offered a uniform belt.

As Jerry was talking about what he did today, Nady came up to bat. Ted said something about Nady needing a hit. Jerry said "He better get that hit. I used his belt, you know".

He encouraged bucking the system

He went out to the park in the park saying it was "a deal" cause you could see the stars out there and "almost" the whole field. He also said you could wander around and sneak into another section if you wanted to.

He got a day named after him

Ted points out that today has been proclaimed Jerry Coleman day in San Diego. Jerry humbly said that all he did was "bounce around" today.

He felt this thing in his pocket

He walked to the ballpark. He felt this thing in his pocket. It was his hotel key. He forgot to check out.

He ate at Cheesecake Factory and therefore was "full of cheese" when he got to the park.

He got to the ballpark early

He tried to catch Bruce Bochy early to do an interview. He showed up at 8:30AM, 5 1/2 hours before first pitch. Bochy didn't show up till 9:30.
